WHAT WE DO.

This particular role is based at our Bakkavor Salads Bo’ness site, which employs over 1,000 people and produces food-to-go salads and salad accompaniments to a number of customers. It is located 3.5 miles from Linlithgow and 8 miles to Falkirk.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join us at our Bo’ness site working in one of our production sites. Reporting in to one of our Section Managers, you will manage, organise and control effective some of our frontline production teams working on specific parts of the process, potentially working across raw material prep, processing and packaging of the finished product.
In this busy and hands-on role, you will pro-actively manage and motivate a team of production staff and ensure that the highest levels of health and safety are met at all times whilst your team meet the quality standard Bakkavor and our clients expect.
As Section Leader, you will have line management responsibility for your section which will include training and developing your section as well as performance management including first level disciplinaries and absence management.

DUTIES:

  • Encouraging a safe working environment for all employees in your area by supporting and enforcing standards set out in the Group Health and Safety policy
  • Ensuring team are performing to quality standards in terms of GMP, food safety, product quality / presentation and housekeeping
  • Managing the performance of team members using Bakkavor performance management systems
  • Actively coaching, developing, recruiting, and training team members - whilst encouraging continuous improvement within the business
  • Managing improvement activities on processes such as KPIs, waste management and production control – whilst completing associated administration and record keeping
  • Ensuring team are correctly deployed and are performing to standards in adherence to the plan – managing breaks and shift changeover process to ensure there is no disruption to productivity and workflow
  • Ensuring mechanisms are in place and supported to provide effective communication at all levels
  • Carrying out necessary administrative tasks and producing data / reports as required including T&A and holiday management

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • To be a positive and motivated team player that possesses strong leadership skills. The role requires you to pay attention to detail. Ideally you will have previous experience working within food manufacturing in a leadership role.
  • Strong people management and development skills, with the ability to lead by example with the highest level of attendance and timekeeping
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and to work in a fast paced and highly pressurized environment
  • Good computer skills with app based performance monitoring systems
  • Familiarity with food manufacturing environment
