SECTOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER – LIFE SCIENCE AND HEALTHCARE

We are seeking a Strategic Business Development Manager to establish DGF UK as a market leader in the LSH sector, driving significant volume and GP growth. In this role, you will be responsible for developing new high-value target accounts and building strong business pipelines. Collaboration with various business development functions within DGF and DHL, including sales management and support teams, is essential.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Proven track record in strategic business development, preferably within the logistics, supply chain, or transportation industry.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in the LSH sector.
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across various teams and functions.
  • Results-oriented mindset with a focus on driving volume and GP growth.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Sector specific knowledge and experience
  • Able to find and develop HVT business from new and existing customers
  • Proven solution design and problem solving skills

  • In-depth understanding of the Freight Forwarding Industry
  • Ability to balance conflicting priorities
  • IT - generalist knowledge - MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Requirement to travel around the UK, and internationally when justified and approved
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in forwarding, transport, supply chain, or logistics, with a focus on customer-facing roles.
  • Strong knowledge and expertise in various transportation modes for both import and export operations.
  • Significant knowledge of the sector and demonstrated experience in selling to customers within the industry is highly preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and develop potential new customers within the LSH sector, focusing on high-value targets.
  • Collaborate closely with UK, European, and Global sales management and support functions.
  • Work in close partnership with DGF UK Product/Station teams and Senior Management Team (SMT) to ensure best-in-class collaboration.
  • Contribute to the development of a fit-for-purpose DGF UK Sector Strategy aligned with global strategies.
  • Attract new high-value customers to DGF and support their conversion, impacting station, country, and product P&Ls.
  • Deliver sector-specific knowledge and insights to customers, exceeding their expectations and showcasing DGF’s global transportation expertise.
  • Manage, report, and grow the sector overall through leadership, development, and execution of the sector strategy.
  • Drive volume and GP growth by leading individual opportunities and pipeline development, as well as nurturing existing customers.
