Custody and Fund Services provides middle office, custody, accounting and administration services for asset owners and fund managers including mutual funds, hedge funds, private equity, real estate funds, pension funds and fund of funds.
The Canadian product manager is expected to drive and maintain servicing capabilities consistent with local market practices and as a key contributor to the Custody business globally.

QUALIFICATIONS

This role is varied, demanding, requires the ability to think strategically and partner with diverse teams to drive efficiency and process enhancement. In order to be successful in this role, the individual should have the following background and skill set:

  • Minimum of 10 years custody experience in Canada with detailed knowledge of the custody lifecycle including safekeeping, settlement, and all facets of asset servicing including corporate actions, income processing, proxy services, and tax product.
  • Detailed knowledge of market participants, local regulations, client requirements and market practice, all of which can be practically demonstrated through existing relationships, past experience and previous achievements.
  • Preferably 15 years’ experience in the Securities Services industry.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with a capability to deliver concise clear messages and ability to leverage the wider organisation to meet objectives
  • Good organizational skills - manages & prioritizes multiple tasks across different time horizons within deadlines
  • Solid understanding of business process and how to apply appropriate risk controls
  • Proven ability to manage teams as a direct and dotted-line manager as well as across support areas as part of overall delivery of objectives
  • A good understanding of the regulatory environment, its evolution and ongoing impact on the custody product

Responsibilities:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead product role in the implementation of the Canadian custody strategy, understanding of the Operating model for the Canadian market
  • Liaise with the local market infrastructure and service providers
  • Lead, develop and execute the market infrastructure strategy in line with the overall global direction of the Securities Services product line
  • Articulate the competitive proposition and key differentiators for JPM regarding the market, significant business drivers, opportunities and risks.
  • Represent the custody product and the underlying clients in all interactions with local regulators and act as lead advocate for the product / clients with market infrastructure and trade representative group with overall ownership of all documentation related to the product
  • Plan and deliver a co-ordinated program of innovative market information that is delivered to clients efficiently and in a variety of formats.
  • Coordinate across Operations, Client Service, and Technology to ensure an agenda for product development is delivered in line with overall market strategy
  • Partner with local and functional Compliance to ensure the custody product operates within the parameters of all relevant regulatory strictures
  • Ensure a focus on Risk and Controls across the business where issues are identified, escalated and managed effectively and transparently
