MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum high school education by Alberta Education standards (or equivalent).
- Must hold an Individual license under the Alberta Security Services and Investigators Act.
- Emergency or Standard First Aid Certification and Level C CPR with AED.
- Obtain a clear criminal record check with a vulnerable sector check.
- Experience with Microsoft Windows and Google applications.
- Able to work shift work.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of a security-related diploma. A university degree or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Security management-specific education. Significant security-related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Several years of progressive security experience.
- Experience working in a post-secondary environment. Knowledge of the University of Alberta campus is an asset.
- High level of proficiency with Google applications.
Responsibilities:
- Proactively patrol areas of the University
- Detect and report incidents that require a higher level of Peace Officer and police response.
- Provides information and assistance to the university community and guests/visitors.
- Participates in community crime prevention programs and education activities.
- Assists in building evacuations for life/safety incidents, and provides perimeter security and crowd control during emergency operations.
- Takes notes, completes written reports and enters information into the database as required.
- Attends court and tribunals, provides testimony and conducts oneself in a professional manner.
