Responsibilities:

TE TŪRANGA | ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Security Analyst the primary purpose of this role is to assess the effectiveness of the data security initiatives implemented across the environment and support the protection of our digital information assets through proactive monitoring and maintenance of our digital landscape.

Some key responsibilities are:

  • Technical analysis of alerts and data from security products including (but not limited to) SIEMs, Intrusion detection and prevention systems, end point security solutions, web proxies and network security devices, and vulnerability scanning and management systems
  • Incident response, including liaising with Council users and Digital operations staff
  • Vulnerability analysis including triaging vulnerabilities and advising on associated remediation activities.
  • Taking on a wide variety of security operations tasks on an as needed basis.

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Ideally 2+ years’ experience or equivalent knowledge in Security Operations or an Digital technical team
  • A general technical understanding of contemporary IT technologies achieved through real world experience
  • Solid analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
  • Passionate about growth and learning.
  • Programming or scripting experience strongly preferred, but not required
  • Academic background in Cyber Security strongly preferred, but not require
