Job Description
The Security Practice within Nine spans a large cross-section of Nine technology, and drives the Nine DevSecOps strategy involving guiding and empowering engineering teams to be more conscious of security from idea to release to support.
In this role of Security Software Engineer, you will work directly with developers in ensuring that they follow best practices for secure coding and design. Using a combination of industry tooling and scripting, you will identify vulnerabilities and general coding anti-patterns and advise appropriate solutions. Other tasks may include documenting best practices, assisting with security training workshops, security tool management, threat modelling, reporting/metrics to show track the success of the program and liaising with the Cyber team on areas of shared interest.
This is a technical role that involves a strong understanding of secure coding across various programming languages, frameworks and cloud services. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a high paced environment, reading and reviewing code and advising on secure implementation and design. You must not only be security knowledgeable but also practical in terms of finding the right solutions and prioritising what matters the most.

Qualifications

  • Strong, proven application development skills
  • Ability to script in order to automate routine tasks
  • Experience with implementation and operation of SAST and SCA tools
  • Familiar with Agile development and DevSecOps
  • An eagerness to share knowledge
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • A self-starting attitude, with a desire to learn

A decent understanding of programming in Go, Node or React will be beneficial, but importantly a positive learning attitude and desire to learn and fill in knowledge gaps is required. Other programming languages will be encountered to a lesser extent.
Skills can be learned, attitude is everything. Within the greater engineering team we have intentionally fostered a dynamic working environment and collaborative team culture. We support individual goals and personal growth through coaching, mentoring and ongoing training. As part of our commitment to inclusion we support flexible work schedules and locations.
