DUTIES

• Enforces federal, state, local laws and official orders, which includes the protection of government and personal property.
• Ensures the maintenance of physical security standards in accordance with regulations.
• Patrols designated areas by vehicle or foot to check perimeter locks, fence gates and restricted areas.
• Explains and interprets security and law enforcement regulatory material, applicable policies, and plans.
• Provides written documentation of accidents and/or incidents.
• Prepares a variety of reports utilizing automated systems.

ABOUT THE POSITION: THIS IS A DEVELOPMENTAL ENTRY LEVEL POSITION. NONCOMPETITIVE PROMOTION OF THE INCUMBENT TO THE GS-06 GRADE LEVEL MAY BE AFFECTED PROVIDED THE INCUMBENT SUCCESSFULLY MEETS THE REGULATORY QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR PROMOTION, AND THE DUTIES OF THE POSITION ARE STILL REQUIRED. PROMOTION IS NEITHER GUARANTEED NOR IS AUTOMATIC.
