Position: Security Officer
Reporting to: Security Chief
Location: Kansas City Plant
Schedule: 2 - 2 - 3 (12 hr shifts)
Shifts:
1st - (6 am - 6 pm)
2nd - (6 pm - 6 am)
Starting Pay: $20.50/hr, night shift premium for 2nd shift positions

Summary: This facility is part of our Prepared Foods business unit. Our Security Officer is a full-time position that is responsible for monitoring daily traffic entering and leaving the Tyson Foods Inc. facility. We are looking for candidates for 1st and 2nd shifts!

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Checking identification of all visitors, vendors, contractors, and Team Members, allowing only authorized personnel into the facility.
  • Constant communication with truck drivers, vendors, customers of Tyson Foods, and Team Members.
  • Answering phones and communication with Material Handling on status of loads.
  • Monitoring what is being brought into and out of the facility and enforcing Tyson policy
  • Checking all carry-in items including bags, briefcases, toolboxes, lunchboxes, etc.
  • Writing investigative reports.
  • Performing preliminary investigations of accidents, thefts, workplace violence, and other incidents as needed.
  • Roving or walking through the plant to check physical facility security.
  • Log truck traffic during ingress and egress to the facility and inspection of all motor vehicles driven into the plant.
  • Switchboard operations, two-way radio communication and intercom equipment.
  • The Security department runs 3 shifts and shift assignment will be determined upon job offer.
  • Other job assignment duties may be assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Education: High School diploma or its equivalency.
  • Experience: Supervisory and investigative skills helpful but not mandatory, necessary training provided for successful applicants. Prior security or law enforcement experience preferred.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills are desirable, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills are a necessity and applicant must possess the ability to interact respectfully with all Team Members, including Tyson Management.
  • Special Skills: Must have the ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion.
  • Must reside in the United States to be considered.
