    Position Summary:
    The Security Officer performs a variety of security and safety related functions while involved in the safeguarding of employees, patients, visitors, physicians, and property. Maintains a secure environment at the front line of service to protect people, information, and property. Proactively identifies and resolves potentially harmful, dangerous, or unsafe situations or risks.
    Qualifications:

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

Driver’s License upon hire and Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) Card within 6 months

  • Training for the application of clinical violent restraints

Essential Functions:

  • Perform a variety of duties to include, but not limited to floor patrols within the hospital as well as medical offices owned/operated by Carle Foundation Hospital.
  • Restrain patients with minimum force avoiding injuries to patients or others while taking control of the situation and implementing appropriate procedures.
  • Perform contraband safety searches for behavioral patients and provide safe and proper disposition of contraband.
  • Upon request, collect patient valuables, record, and secure in the security valuables cabinet.
  • Provide patient escorts to ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Provide motor vehicle assistance to staff, visitors, and patients (i.e. jump start vehicles and assist with flat tires). Provide after hour visitation escorts.
  • Respond to all alarm activations and investigate cause; conduct monthly testing of panic alarms and emergency call stations.
  • Maintain the recording and storage of lost & found items by securing in the Security found item closet.
