SECURITY PER-DIEM JOB DESCRIPTION

Atlantic Health System is seeking a Per-Diem Security Officer for the Security Department at Newton Medical Center – Days and Shift Hours may vary.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

High School Graduate

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior Law enforcement, Fire Service or EMS experience highly preferred.
  • Former Military, Reserve Military and Law Enforcement candidates preferred.
  • Thorough background checks conducted.
  • Reading, writing, communication and computer skills.

Since 1932, Newton Medical Center has been providing care to the people of Sussex and warren counties in New Jersey, Pike County in Pennsylvania and southern Orange County in New York. We are home to the Center for Breast Health, the only one of its kind in Sussex County, addressing all of a woman’s breast health needs with state-of-the-art technology, resources, education, support and follow-up care. Newton Medical Center recently achieved the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Pathway to Excellence designation and is one of a select few health care facilities in New Jersey accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) in all three echocardiography procedures: adult transthoracic, adult transesophogeal and adult stress.

Responsibilities:

  • The selected candidate must be able to work, first, second and third shifts, weekends and Holidays and over time as required.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. as well as stand for a minimum of 4 hours at a time.
  • The candidate must be able to attend mandatory training sessions.
  • Proficiency with computers is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to work with the departments computer system is essential.
  • The selected candidate must be able to relate and engage with patients, visitors, and staff.
  • The essential functions of this position include: safety tours of the facility and grounds, responding to emergencies, conducting investigations and gathering information, completing electronic reports, de-escalating violent or threatening persons.
  • The candidate will be exposed to Bio-Hazards such as Blood, Vomit, Saliva, and Urine.
  • The candidate will be required to pass an N95 Fit Test. Be able to wear an N95 or surgical mask for short and long periods of time.
  • Candidates are will be oriented on one or more shifts during their initial orientation.
  • Candidates will be required to pass an AHS approved hands on patient control tactics course.
