  • SIRA Security Qualifications is a plus. If not, willing to attend the training immediately after joining.
  • 3-4 years’ experience in the same/similar role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Hotel / Commercial Security Experience / background is an advantage.
  • Ability to identify small, apparently unnoticeable details that most people would ordinarily overlook.
  • Ability to work independently and to multitask.

Responsibilities:

SCOPE & GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

A Security Officer, or Security Guard, ensures the safety of the area they are assigned to watch. Their duties include monitoring the premises, responding to emergency situations and keeping track of all incidents on-site.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Patrolling and securing the area.
  • Monitoring and analysing CCTV camera footage.
  • Guarding valuables in a secure area.
  • Protecting the company’s assets relative to theft, assault, fire and other safety issues
  • Responding to alarms and emergencies.
  • Communicating any irregularities with management.
  • Keeping an incident report record.
  • Following procedures for various initiatives including fire prevention, traffic control and accident investigations
  • Checking visitors in and out of the area.
  • Escorting visitors around the premises.
  • Ensuring compliance with government regulations

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Welcome visitors to the job site and provide information by offering answers to visitor’s questions.
  • Ensuring all tenants, visitors, or clients experiences are memorable and unique as per the company standards.
  • Provide wayfinding and directional assistance to specific facility locations. Use of exceptional customer service by assisting them in a friendly, efficient, courteous and professional manner. Escorting them if necessary.
  • Support People of Determination and visitors with accessibility needs. Identifying the need for ease of access modifications to the workplace if needed.
  • Responding to people’s concerns and supporting or escalating as appropriate.
  • Maintain a high degree of self-discipline by maintaining your personal appearance at all times while on duty.
  • Maintain a high level of personal fitness by eating right and keeping yourself physically ready for any occasion while on duty.
  • Ensure that you are presentable at work at adhere to the highest of standards – shoes, uniform, personal grooming etc. Informing your supervisor of any uniform issues before being told to.
  • Ensure you show up to your duty on time with the necessary issued equipment to perform your job correctly.
  • Ensure you conduct a handover / takeover brief with your guard in line and keeping to the standard operating procedures for that post.
  • Ensure you carry out all daily routine tasks in line with your Post Orders.
  • Assist when required with any additional daily tasks without complaint or denial.
  • Ensure regular communication with your line manager (Team Leader/Supervisor) where appropriate or as required, to provide useful updates or issues that occurred during your shift.
  • Manage the maintenance of logs and forms as per requirements. This includes incident report, Customer Supplied Items, key issue and return log etc.
  • Ensure you report any kit or equipment losses or damages to your line manager immediately.
  • Help to maintain a safe and secure environment for all clients, tenants and/or visitors.
  • Ensure you are constantly observing for signs of crime or disorder and that all disturbances are investigated.
  • Ensure that prohibited or restricted items and actions are identified, handled and reported in line with procedures covered in your training
  • Ensuring you remain vigilant and aware of suspicious personnel and items at all times during the shift.
  • Ensure any lost and found items that are handed to you are immediately logged and stored in the correct location in line with the Lost and Found procedure.
  • Ensure you report any Health & Safety or Building Maintenance related concerns to your line manager immediately.
  • Ensure that any alarms are reported and that you investigate the nature of the alarm in line with the Post Orders.
  • Ensure assets are secure (buildings, structures, kit, equipment etc.) as required and as briefed for your post.
  • Provide First Aid and Fire Extinguishing as required, but do not exceed the limitations of your training or qualifications.
  • Ensure all confirmed security issues or incidents are reported as required to your line manager as briefed. Correctly fill out the Incident Report Form with all pertinent data.
  • Respond to and/or provide support for any incidents, accidents or emergencies on site. Quickly as possible ensure that all details are reported to your line manager and authorities.
  • Support any site evacuation in line with the Facility Evacuation Plan. Ensuring exit drills are followed as required and as briefed to you by your Team Leader, Supervisor line manager or client’s delegated.
  • Identify any issues that could cause damage and escalate them as required via your Supervisor of direct line Manager.
  • Presents losses and damage by reporting irregularities and informs violators of policy and procedures.
  • Secure premises and personnel by patrolling property, monitoring surveillance equipment, and access points.
  • Investigates security breaches, incidents, and other alarming behavior.
  • Control traffic by directing drivers.
  • Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities.
  • Interview witnesses and obtains signatures as needed.
  • Maintain the organization’s stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
