Description:
Provide a pro-active, well presented, professional, uniformed security presence for North Bristol Trust. Working unsupervised, 8-hour shifts days, nights, and weekends. Clear and effective communication with the ability to listen and empathise as interactions will involve people with mental health, dependency, learning difficulties, distressed, or confused. Take the lead responding to incidents on Trust property including undertaking investigations into suspicious behaviours or criminal activities such as theft and anti-social behaviour.
Remaining calm and professional under pressure during incidents, especially highly stressed and emotive events. Be ready to respond to every incident, always being prepared in case of alarm activations, violence & aggression, and other significant events. Responding to all security incidents with a high sense of urgency. Where called upon to support clinical staff, assist with the detention of patients under the Mental Health Act 2007 and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
Provide a security presence to support clinical staff. Attend clinical incidents to provide support and assistance to clinical staff including, where necessary, the appropriate and lawful use of clinical holding and physical restraint. Ensure the safety, security and welfare of Trust staff, patients, and others. Protect Trust property from malicious damage and theft.
Promote a safe, positive environment to reduce the potential for crime. Accurately record every incident, gather all relevant information, and complete detailed reports. On a rotational basis, maintain an effective security presence in the Emergency Department (ED) areas, promptly intercepting poor behaviours and ensuring the ED patient service is not impacted or disrupted. Detect and investigate any criminality on Trust property including criminal damage and theft.
Investigate and record security incidents in a fair, objective, and professional manner. Keep an up-to-date record in pocket notebooks of each incident attended. Attend and complete all mandatory security & parking officer training to achieve compliance. Complete specialist training for safer clinical holding and restraint where clinical support is required.
Work towards being authorised officers under Criminal Justice Immigration Act 2008. Conduct the required amount of internal and external patrols every shift, completing site-specific activities and taskings as required. Assist with fire alarm evacuations, liaising with Trust Departments and Avon Fire and Rescue Service as appropriate, to minimise the risk to Trust property and those that maybe potentially affected during fire incidents. Promote a pro-security culture within the Trust hospitals so that patients and staff take responsibility, feeling empowered to report to the Security & Parking Team.
Uphold and enforce the Trust Parking policy. To assist with car park cash collections from pay and display machines, including use of Security & Parking vehicle. Issuing parking charge notices out of hours. Assist with car park closures, bay closures, and support with traffic management as required.
To ensure that all national and local Health & Safety requirements are met and maintained, to report all health and safety breeches and/or near misses as per the Trust Adverse Incident Reporting policy, whilst actively pursuing and reinforcing the Trust’s policies in relation to Equal Opportunities and Diversity Legislation. To comply with all the Trust’s Security Policies, Standard Operating Procedures and Guidelines. To support risk management for the Division and the Trust by identifying risks or opportunities, implementing, and maintaining existing controls, contingencies, and actions. Reporting all uncontrolled risk to Security management Attend and complete all mandatory security & parking officer training to achieve compliance.
Work towards being authorised officers under Criminal Justice Immigration Act 2008. Undertake all reasonable management requests. Work closely with and support the Police Liaison Unit
