RVH is actively seeking qualified Security Officers to join our team. The Security Officer role is multifaceted and critical to maintaining safety and security within the organization. Here’s a breakdown of the key responsibilities and qualifications expected for this position:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Minimum Grade 12 education required; a Post-Secondary School Diploma in Law and Security or graduate of a recognized Police Training facility is preferred.
- Certification: Must maintain a valid Security Guard License.
- Experience: Previous experience dealing with the public, security systems, and ideally within a healthcare infrastructure is an asset.
- Skills and Attributes:
- Physically fit, with a neat appearance and strong communication skills.
- Ability to demonstrate leadership in emergency planning and response.
- Proficiency in verbal de-escalation techniques; certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention is advantageous.
Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Emergency Response and Leadership:
- Act as the first responder to emergency situations, taking charge of the scene and coordinating responses.
- Handle potentially violent situations involving clients (over 4000 per year) and maintain control of the situation.
- Lead the organization’s response to workplace violence and harassment incidents, collaborating with Occupational Health and Human Resources.
- Risk Management and Documentation:
- Mitigate risks through thorough documentation and investigation of incidents.
- Monitor access control, CCTV, and alarms to ensure the security of the facility.
- Manage asset control and oversee the Lost & Found services.
- Program Development and Training:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the Workplace Violence & Harassment Program.
- Provide education and training to staff on security protocols and emergency procedures.
- Physical Intervention and Security Systems:
- Facilitate physical intervention strategies in violent situations when necessary.
- Maintain and operate security systems effectively.
- Other Duties:
- Manage heliport response and maintenance, ensuring readiness for medical emergencies.
- Act as an ambassador for RVH by upholding a professional and approachable demeanor.
