Responsibilities:

DUTIES

  • Plans and coordinates procedures for implementation of the Information Security (INFOSEC) program.
  • Conducts semi-annual inspections to ensure classified materials are being properly handled, stored, downgraded and destroyed.
  • Coordinates with Information Technology (IT) personnel to manage and contain leaks over computer networks.
  • Serves as the alternate Personnel Security (PERSEC) officer responsible for initiating, updating and recommending approval for the initial, periodic and interim security clearances for military, civilian, contractors and foreign nationals.
  • Manages personnel adverse actions by being the Point of Contact (POC) for reporting and notification of all derogatory reporting.
  • Provide briefings pertaining to the Insider Threat (InT) Program to command senior leaders.
  • Assists in determining policies and procedures concerning Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security matters.
  • Ensure contractor personnel are properly vetted by initiating background investigations and obtaining fingerprint results.
  • Establish local supplemental guidance governing interactions with contractors who require access to classified or otherwise sensitive information and/or technology, as needed.
  • Responsible for the oversight of the intelligence program.
  • Serves as the Command Foreign Disclosure Officer (FDO).
  • Serves as the Alternate Operations Security (OPSEC) Officer.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE IS DEFINED AS EXPERIENCE PERFORMING INTELLIGENCE-RELATED SECURITY WORK, APPLYING AND EXECUTING SECURITY PRINCIPLES AND CONCEPTS PERTAINING TO INFORMATION SECURITY (INFOSEC), PERSONNEL SECURITY PROGRAM (PERSEC) FOREIGN DISCLOSURE (FD), SENSITIVE COMPARTMENTED INFORMATION (SCI), INDUSTRIAL SECURITY (INDUS) AND OPERATIONS SECURITY (OPSEC) RELATED DUTIES. THIS DEFINITION OF SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE IS TYPICAL OF WORK PERFORMED AT THE NEXT LOWER GRADE/LEVEL POSITION IN THE FEDERAL SERVICE (GG/GS-12).

Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
