Description:
NextStar Energy (NSE) is an innovative joint venture company between LG and Stellantis. It will be Canada’s first large-scale lithium-ion battery production plant when it begins production at the Twin Oaks site in Windsor, Ontario. The manufacturing facility will have an annual targeted production capacity in excess of 49 gigawatt hours and will create an estimated 2,500 new jobs in Windsor and the surrounding areas.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Ability to interpret and apply legal documentation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven leadership skills
- Positive attitude and demonstrated effectiveness in accomplishing goals
- Excellent organizational and decision-making skills
- In depth knowledge and experience relative to the creation and implementation of preventative measures to avert emergencies before they occur
- Extensive knowledge and experience relative to the response and safe mitigation of emergency and non-emergency occurrences such as site security, fire rescue and suppression techniques, and the administration of emergency medical aid
- Strong knowledge of, and experience working with OHSA and provincial/municipal regulations and requirements
- Minimum of three years’ experience inspecting and enforcing various enforcement legislation, Codes, and standards
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support the entire team
- Proficient in MS Office suite
- Professional, positive attitude, highly motivated self-starter
- Ability to gather data and prepare reports, statements, and presentations
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 18 years of age or older, eligible to work in Canada, and have a clean criminal record
- Bachelor’s degree required in Criminology or Fire Sciences or related field, MS or MBA preferred, or equivalent, relevant experience
- Experience with the successful mitigation of various small- and large-scale emergencies
- A security, law enforcement, or emergency responder background
- Knowledge and experience in Incident Management and Incident Command Systems
- Must Have or be Able to Acquire and Maintain a Valid Security Guard License
- Familiarity with emergency management standards, codes, and legislation.
- Fundamentals of Emergency Management, Emergency Planning, Leadership and Influence, and Decision Making and Problem Solving
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
- Experience building compliance systems to an ISO conformance level
- Incident Command Experience
- Disaster prevention and response experience
- Extensive Background in Police, Fire, Security, or Related Field
- Wealth of Experience Relative to Security, NFPA, OHSA standards

Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of divisional managers oversees the day to day delivery of emergency prevention, response, and security services to effectively maintain the safety and security of NextStar Energy’s people and property
- Supervises a security and emergency management team to address security and emergency prevention and response occurrences
- Aids with identifying potential emergency safety risks, and immediately addresses potential concerns
- Helps in identifying areas of vulnerability relative to security and emergency management, and aids in the creation of proactive and sustainable operational programs to address the identified concerns
- Facilitates the conducting of emergency management and security operational processes including emergency drills, incident reporting, and disseminating important security details across the organization
- Ensures the organization’s work processes are legally compliant (i.e. OHSA)
- Participates in organizational operational benchmarks and goals
- Collaborates with management, internal divisional members and other organizational departments to create a workplace culture of safety, security, and compliance
- Must be willing to work 12 hour shifts, day and midnight shifts
