About the role
To oversee, implement and maintain security procedures that provide for a safe and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors at Redcliffe Hospital.
About you

Fulfill the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Queensland Public Service and Metro North Health values.

  • Ensure that comprehensive security service delivery is provided to Redcliffe Hospital staff, patients, visitors and its associated land and assets.
  • Possess and maintain a sound working knowledge of laws, regulations, policies and procedures relating to the duties of a Security Officer operating in a public healthcare setting.
  • Lead a first response security presence to emergency situations, such as:
  • Personal threat
  • Fire response
  • Internal and external events impacting service delivery.
  • Role model the de-escalation of aggressive behaviours and incidents, utilising endorsed evidence based contemporary practices.
  • Both supervise and undertake physical interventions and clinical restraints as required.
  • Ensure that traffic, smoking and other controls as outlined in the Hospital and Health Boards Act 2011 and the Tobacco and Other Smoking Products Act 1998, including directing disorderly persons off Health Service land are properly managed.
  • See that all shift activities, incidents, breaches, observations, comments and supporting digital media are properly recorded in the security reporting system.
  • Provide oversight in respect of the monitoring and operation of tele-communication, radio, CCTV and body worn camera (BWC) equipment ensuring that it is carried out in a proper and ethical manner.
  • Maintain currency in respect of all mandatory and requisite training requirements and certifications and ensure those officers on the shift you are supervising are capable and prepared for their duties.
  • Take reasonable care for your own health, safety and wellbeing and take reasonable care to ensure that your acts or omissions do not adversely affect the health, safety and wellbeing of others and ensure that staff under your control take like minded action.
  • Be accountable for the security, confidentiality and use of information, in accordance with legislation, standards, policies and procedures.
