SEMH LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT
Location: Swindon
Salary: £21,100 per annum
Contract type: 37.5 hours a week, term time only
Swindon Academy are looking for an ambitious and hard-working individual to join a busy team within primary phase. The purpose of the role is to work in partnership with class teachers to support learning in line with the national curriculum, codes of practice and academy policies and procedures. You will also provide small group interventions using specific programmes as directed.
Responsibilities:
- To work under the guidance of the SENCO to support the social and emotional needs of the pupils
- To provide specific support to the children and the school through the provision of assistance to teachers and support staff in the practical organisation of interventionns
- To promote the inclusion of all pupils ensuring they have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop
- Establish and maintain constructive relationships with parents and carers
- To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school
- Implement planned learning activities/teaching programmes as agreed with the teacher, adjusting activities according to students’ needs and responses as appropriate
- Understand specific learning needs and provide differentiated support to students individually and within a group
- Support pupils with activities which develop literacy and numeracy skills
- Promote positive pupil behaviour in line with academy policies for culture for learning
- Monitor and record pupil responses and learning achievements, resolving all but the most complex problems independently
