Responsibilities:

You will be responsible as a Senior SEND Caseworker to support the SEND Service Manager with a particular focus on the resolution of complaints. You will also attend complex reviews, mediation meetings and pre-Tribunal and Tribunal appeals, as the needs arise. As part of this role, you will also manage and offer support and guidance to staff in the SEND Team.
This is a new post and the role arises following a restructure of the SEND Team. The post is based at the Civic Centre, Gateshead. After an initial induction period, the post will operate on a hybrid basis, usually working at least 3 days in the office and the remained working from home.
Essentials:-
Degree/ Level 4 qualification in relevant subject area or equivalent
Detailed understanding of SEND code of practice and relevant legislation.
Thorough knowledge of Ofsted local area SEND inspection framework
Effective use of specialist ICT packages
Project and business management tools and strategies
Relevant experience of working in area of SEND
Previous experience of SEND casework or as a SENDCO
The ability to analyse performance data and interpretation to support service improvement
Experience of staff management
High level of initiative and interpersonal skills.
Highly organised, able to prioritise tasks and delegate workload relating to Tribunals
Hold mediative skills which align with a restorative approach towards resolving and overcoming differences
An in-depth knowledge and understanding of SEN Legislation, reform and statutory process
Excellent negotiation skills and high level of interpersonal and communication skills at all levels
Able to use common software packages and willingness to learn and operate specific ICT systems relating to SEND.
