Valmet’s Global Financial Operations is looking for a financial professional or future expert who is enthusiastic and ambitious to develop Valmet’s processes and tools, can continuously identify critical topics, values teamwork and is able to maintain a positive and productive working atmosphere. Indirect Tax Accounting team is a global team of experts managing VAT and other indirect tax activities from master data to reporting in Valmet financial statements and tax authorities. The purpose of our team is to ensure compliance with Valmet policies, Indirect tax and IFRS accounting rules. We aim to take the ownership of indirect tax accounting processes and to be a trusted business partner to our stakeholders by working effectively and with positive attitude.
We are now looking for energetic team player to join our Global Indirect Tax Accounting team.

In this Senior Accountant/Accountant role you will:

  • Be responsible for performing indirect tax accounting and reporting activities to comply with business related tax obligations, accounting standards (IFRS, LGAAP) and other regulations.
  • Provide expertise, training, and coaching in Indirect tax accounting and reporting related matters and practices to accountants, controllers, and other stakeholders
  • Identify and understand requirements and gaps in solutions and effectively conduct change management
  • Continuously develop systems, processes, and practicalities
  • Work closely with business stakeholders, Business Finance, Group Tax, external service providers and other stakeholders

What will help you to be successful in this role:

  • Experience in Indirect tax Compliance and eagerness to develop more expertise in Indirect tax accounting and reporting related topics in an international environment.
  • Knowledge of tax rules and laws, accounting and reporting principles and standards.
  • Self-motivated drive to fulfill requirements, meet timelines and keep up positive attitude.
  • Ability to identify critical topics and process issues where necessary.
  • Ability to roll up sleeves when working across teams and functions to influence action.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills with ability to deliver complex messages in an effective way.
  • Effective documentation and presentation skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting and/or a recognized accounting qualification
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Finnish, competence in other languages is an advantage.
  • Understanding of Valmet business model and way of working is an advantage.

Additional information:
The position can be located in Jyväskylä, Tampere or Järvenpää. Valmet is building a completely new, shared office building in the Tikkurila district of Vantaa for its employees currently working in Järvenpää and some of its employees currently working in Hakkila, Vantaa. We will move into the new offices in early 2025.
