Job Summary:
Central 1 is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team. In this key role, you will help establish a trusted source of financial data, support a stable finance infrastructure, and ensure seamless accounting processes. Additionally, you will contribute to developing and maintaining a strong internal control environment to guarantee data integrity.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide support and guidance to accounts payable and accounts receivable staff to ensure accurate recording of transactions with respect to accounting treatments (prepaids, deferrals, accruals, capitalization of assets etc.)
  • Identify and investigate variances; gather, analyse, summarize, and interpret data; provide proactive, timely explanations to management team
  • Develop professional competencies and continuously work to improve strengths and professional performance
  • Collaborate with management and cross-functional teams to identify problems and develop solutions
  • Be actively engaged in optimizing processes
  • Complete month, quarter and year end close activities within established timelines
  • Review assigned financial statements for accuracy
  • Verify, allocate, accrue, post, and reconcile accounts and transactions of increased complexity
  • Assist the Manager, Accounting with day-to-day operations of the Accounting department as required
  • Preparation of subsidiary financial statements including notes
  • Responsible for project accounting accruals and allocations
  • Support project administration
  • Support the development and implementation of accounting processes and procedures
  • Support in the preparation of Central 1’s quarter end and year end financial disclosures
  • Responsible for the Fixed Asset assignments, treatment, tracking and reporting
  • Support commodity tax compliance
  • Manage Customer and Supplier administration within Workday
  • Assist in the production of year end deliverables for external audit
  • Support internal audit deliverables of the Accounting Department
  • Manage the key supplier contract accruals
  • Manage start year initiatives, working closely with the Financial Planning and Analysis department (FP&A) in Finance
  • Help on adhoc tasks and other duties assigned

What you’ll have:

  • A professional accounting designation (CPA) and a university degree together with 3+five years of progressively responsible accounting experience
  • Working knowledge of core financial systems
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to be independent, self-motivated, efficient and able to tackle competing priorities
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in collaborating with stakeholders across the business and within Finance
  • Display an agile mind set to accommodate a dynamic environment
  • Self-motivated to challenge the ‘status quo’ and propose new approaches and processes to peers and leaders
  • Open, supportive and respectful to all team members and actively engaged as a team member to ensure quality of work performed

Salary : $74,700
The salary represents the job rate determined for the successful candidate who is fully competent in the role. The actual salary will vary depending on market conditions and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
