About Us: The Association of Seafood Producers (ASP) is a not-for-profit industry trade association representing seafood producers in Newfoundland and Labrador. ASP is a unified voice that works for the betterment of the industry in the areas of public policy, sustainability, fisheries management, and innovation and promotion of the NL seafood industry, both provincially and globally.
ASP is currently seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Senior Accountant to join our small but dedicated team.
Job Summary: The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial operations of the Association, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and providing strategic financial insights. This role requires hands-on involvement in all accounting functions, supporting audits, and close collaboration with the management team. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a small, but high-paced office setting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (preferably Sage) and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain financial records, including daily transactions, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Manage the grading program.
  • Process invoices, expense reports, and payments accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Prepare financial reports and summaries as required.
  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Maintain organized and updated financial files and records.
  • Communicate with vendors and members regarding billing and payment inquiries.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to management on financial matters.
  • Provide general administrative support, including answering phones, filing, and data entry.
