QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- 5-7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role
- Hands-on experience in full accounting cycle, including preparation of financial statements
- Previous experience in a global manufacturing environment beneficial
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Strong accounting knowledge with experience in all areas of general accounting
- Knowledge of intercompany accounting processes and international accounting knowledge beneficial
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong team player; proactively able to step in to support other team members as needed and share knowledge to allow cross training of all functions, builds collaborative relationships
- Works well under pressure, effectively handles conflict and demonstrates flexibility in work style to accommodate changing priorities and fixed deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with other accountants, functional specialists and business leaders. Demonstrated ability to interpret data and provide meaningful information to both a financial and a non-financial audience
- Self-motivated, self-starter, capable of seeking quality solutions and continuously focusing on process improvements, while keeping the needs of the business in the forefront
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in an efficient and effective manner
- Experience with SOX controls, auditing processes, and a strong commitment to the importance of accounting standards and controls
- Experience with Financial module systems and General Ledger systems.
- Demonstrated excellent skill set in all Microsoft Office Products
EDUCATION:
- Minimum of a 4-year Degree in Accounting
- CPA strongly preferred
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the completion of daily, monthly and annual accounting activities as assigned by the Controller, including, but not limited to the following activities:
- Execute month-end closing process on 4-4-5 weekly schedule
- Prepare and record journal entries
- Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations, including bank statement reconciliations
- Supervise work of Accountant, including review of journal entries and account reconciliations
- Prepare, review and finalize financial results, including reconciliation to HFM (consolidation system)
- Prepare annual budget schedules as assigned by the Controller
- Prepare and present monthly variance analyses with meaningful commentary
- Prepare and file HST/GST and Sales & Use tax
- Prepare support and analysis for quarterly tax provision
- Record intercompany transactions and reconcile balances
- Ensure compliance with SOX and internal controls
- Support internal and external audits by facilitating the provision of data to auditors and responding to inquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Identify, manage, and complete continuous improvement opportunities such as updating standard work, driving transactional improvements, and reducing process work elements.
