About the role
We’re looking for a new Senior Accountant to join our Auckland office. As a key member of the Finance Team you’ll be responsible for accounting processes, ensuring compliance with regulations, and preparing accurate financial statements. This varied role involves leadership, detailed financial analysis, and communication with senior stakeholders to enhance financial performance and strategies.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare monthly consolidated accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.
  • Manage monthly journal entries and intercompany recharges, along with balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare statutory financial statements (half-year and annual) in compliance with reporting standards.
  • Oversee lease accounting in accordance with IFRS 16 and maintain the fixed asset register.
  • Prepare corporate tax returns, including Income Tax, GST, and FBT.
  • Develop strong relationships with stakeholders and leadership to provide financial advice and insights, including identifying financial trends to drive strong commercial outcomes.
  • Proactively recommend actions to improve financial systems, policies, and processes.
  • Manage the month-end close process, including preparation and review of management reporting, commentary, monitoring of performance against budgets and forecasts.
  • Assist with the engagement with external auditors during the year-end process, including the preparation of financial statements to ensure timely and accurate deliverables.
  • Drive continuous improvement and efficiencies in financial processes and ERP systems.Support the Finance Manager, Head of Finance and Leadership Team by participating in strategic projects and initiatives to enhance business performance and effectiveness.

Your skills and experience

  • CA or CPA qualification plus 5+ years post qualified experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or other relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Professional Services industry experience is advantageous but not essential.
  • Excellent communication skills and business partnering capability to provide financial analysis and recommendations with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting and analysis with excellent Excel skills.Strong problem solving capabilities and management of multiple, often competing, priorities and deadlines.
