Our CFO (Chief Financial Officer) function manages the economic processes of our company and is responsible for legal matters as well as IT solutions for the entire group. Your position is in the “Accounting” area within the “Group Consolidation & Reporting” department, which is responsible for the preparation of consolidated financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and for Covestro’s external financial reporting.
As the Senior Accounting Manager - Head of Management Reporting (m/f/d), you will be responsible for the external management reporting of the Covestro Group in the context of the annual financial statements, the half-year financial report, and the quarterly statements. Your work will directly contribute to the company’s strategic decision-making and sustainability goals.
In addition to our wide range of benefits, you can expect an attractive starting salary of between €108,600.00/year and €135,700.00/year plus a variable component for a full-time position. The starting salary depends on your qualifications and professional experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- You lead and develop a team of 3, focusing on talent growth and performance management.
- You orchestrate the preparation of the quarterly statements as well as the management report, including the sustainability report, as part of the interim and annual reports, ensuring the highest quality and compliance with legal regulations such as German Accounting Standards (DRS), HGB, AktG, and the German Corporate Governance Code (DCGK).
- In your new role as the leader of a highly qualified team, you coordinate the entire reporting process and liaise with internal departments as well as external partners.
- You coordinate and support the preparation of the sustainability report, ensuring alignment with ESG regulations.
- You are the main contact for the auditor during the review of the management report, including the sustainability report contained therein, and ensure a smooth and efficient audit process.
- You lead pioneering projects in the field of sustainability reporting and drive the transformation of non-financial reporting forward.
- Additionally, you prepare decision-making and information documents for corporate bodies.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or Accounting (e.g., MBA or MSc).
- At least 10 years of experience in accounting and IFRS/HGB reporting, with proven experience leading teams.
- Expertise in accounting regulations (IFRS, HGB, DRS, AktG) and the “European Sustainability Reporting Standards” (ESRS)
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office and initial experience with SAP FI / CO, Analysis for Office and Smart Notes.
- Fluent in both German and English, written and spoken.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex projects, and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.
