Description:

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking suitably qualified personnel for a wide range of challenging Sustainable Transportation and Active Travel projects. The successful candidate will have a Level 8 Engineering degree (or equivalent). They will have proven design and project management experience having ideally delivered active travel projects and urban design projects, through all project stages from planning through to delivery on site.

The successful candidate will need to work as part of multi-disciplinary project teams and have experience with Local Authority/ National Transport Authority design and project management requirements. In addition, experience in some of the following areas would be desirable:

  • Urban Street Design (including a good understanding of the Design Manual for Urban Roads and Streets (DMURS), The Traffic Signs Manual, the National Cycle Manual, NTA Project Appraisal Guidelines etc..);
  • Civil Engineering Design;
  • Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS);
  • Traffic Modelling Software (i.e. LINSIG, Junctions 9, VISSIM, etc..);
  • Highway Geometric Design including the Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) Publications (formerly the DMRB);
  • Stakeholder Management;
  • Project Presentation;
  • Preliminary Design and the Planning Process;
  • Government Form of Contract;
  • Preparation of Contract tender documents and Procurement Process; and
  • Responding to design queries during construction

We are currently hiring for an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated active travel design team collocated in our clients office in Smithfield. As the Project Manager / Senior Scheme Designer, you will lead a team of 7 based in the project office, as well as coordinate inputs from a wide range of multi-disciplinary specialists based in our head office to deliver active travel projects from concept design through to delivery on site. This exciting role will initially be based in our clients office in Smithfield with a requirement to be in the office 3 days a week. At the end of 2026 when this commission ends, the role would move to our one of our offices in Dublin, Cork, Limerick or Galway.
