  • Do you believe in financial wellbeing as a driver for a better, healthier, more sustainable future?
It’s finding new ways to not only better people’s lives, but to better the communities and environments we live. To do this, we need great Actuaries who want to be part of something bigger than finance alone. Because the better we can nurture our financial wellbeing as an organisation, the better we can support and make a difference for our customers when they need us most. By ensuring our products are well designed and priced, analysing business performance and ensuring proper management of insurance policies in-force, you’re not just safeguarding AIA’s financial wellbeing. You’re securing a better future for the people and communities we serve - today, tomorrow and for generations to come.
    The opportunity:
Reporting to the Appointed Actuary, the purpose of this role is to provide actuarial support to the business and support senior actuaries in meeting internal and external stakeholder requirements.
This is a 12-month fixed-term role, covering a period of parental leave.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Effectively lead and provide support to projects (including management of the scope, timelines, deliverables, project team and stakeholders) and to business-as-usual tasks across all aspects of actuarial work, with a focus on solvency and capital management
  • Effectively manage and mentor actuarial analysts and senior actuarial analysts
  • Ensure that the relevant concepts, methodologies, and controls are correctly applied in the work completed by the team
  • Produce, document and present value-add insights and results to internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist in preparation of actuarial reports and Financial Risk Committee, and Board papers
  • Engage with teams across AIA NZ and contribute to the broader business.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of theory and practice across at least one aspect of actuarial work (e.g., experience investigations, pricing, valuations, solvency and capital management, reinsurance, predictive modelling etc.)
  • Strong business acumen and ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Proven ability to apply a mixture of analysis, experience, and judgement to solve complex business problems
  • Knowledge an understanding of life insurance products
  • Proven strong technical skills including software skills (including SQL, MS Office package and Prophet) and analytical skills.

If you believe you can help guide us towards a better tomorrow, apply now!
