Description:
Powell is a manufacturer of switchgear and other electrical equipment. We are currently hiring a Senior Administrative Assistant at our Southeast Houston manufacturing facility. Posted position does not allow for sponsorship or relocation assistance.
POSITION SUMMARY
The administrative assistant position provides support to ensure efficient operation of the business. This role will primarily support the Health Safety and Environmental Department, along with the Operations Leadership Team and manufacturing departments. Strong MS Office, and communication skills are essential in this role. This position performs various administrative tasks, including creating purchase requisitions, managing Business Travel expense reports and maintaining office and safety supplies.
Essential Responsibilities Manage employees safety programs, including prescription safety glasses, uniforms, and the safety shoe program). Manage all Safety Orientation training and training re-certification documentation. Coordinate training recertification with supervisors. Manage safety and office supply inventory. Perform general clerical duties to include, but not be limited to the following: photocopying, faxing, mailing and filing Assist with ordering office supplies as needed Coordinate and maintain key records of office personnel, such as cell phone number and company credit card numbers Set-up and coordinate meeting spaces and attendee list as may be required Support Operation staff in assigned project-based work
Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent Experience working in an office environment
Skills, Abilities & Other Requirements Computer skills MS Office (emphasis on Excel). Oral and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills. Ability to work with people from wide variety of cultures and backgrounds Ability to understand and follow directions.
Working & Environmental Conditions Temperature controlled working environment. Some outside activities may be required. This position may travel out-of-town to attend training and meetings. Typical office environment: may experience minor discomfort from extensive use of a computer display and keyboard; travel between buildings on campus and between campuses.
Physical Requirements Maintaining body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs. Sitting, standing and walking for long periods of time. Typing, punching or applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm.
