The expected salary range for this role is CAD $ 111,440 - 132,335 . This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s pay history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about pay history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.

Education:

  • Proven working knowledge of SCADA and Distributed Control Systems as well as familiarity with concepts such as Advanced Process Control systems (SGS Advanced Systems, Metso OCS4-D, etc.).

Experience:

  • Significant operating experience across common gold and/or base metal processing unit operations including Crushing, Grinding, Gravity Separation, Flotation, Thickening, Leaching, Filtration, Elution and Residue Disposal.
  • Demonstrated experience in using analytical tools to assess processing plant operational performance (e.g. PI vision, Process Historian, Excel tools, etc.).
  • Control room supervisor and/or operations coach/trainer experience will be highly regarded.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated understanding of best practise in mineral processing plant operation.
  • Capacity to create vision, set expectations, monitor performance, mentor, and train Control Room Operators.
  • Ability to rapidly diagnose, understand and communicate complicated operational challenges and solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to be an influencing voice to site operations, and someone whose opinion as actively sought out when discussing process changes, in particular with respect to control room activities.
  • Assertive, self-motivated, and able to build collaborative and productive professional relationships across sites and regions.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THIS ROLE

What will you be responsible for?
In this role, you will be an integral part of the Processing Operational Support Network (OSN) and responsible for improving operational consistency and performance across Newmont’s processing plant control rooms.

YOUR ROLE WILL CONSIST OF:

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:

  • Develop and monitor key site performance indicators to identify opportunities that improve operational performance.
  • Utilize deep analytical and tools and data driven insights to identify possible production anomalies.
  • Work collaboratively with other specialist groups to develop systems to identify, analyze, problem solve and implement corrective actions for anomalies in the production processes.
  • Work with Reliability Engineering to implement and monitor Delay Accounting systems.
  • Identify key constraints to circuits within operating plants to ensure that the plant is operating as close to maximum output as constraints will allow.
  • Collaborate with and guide site personnel to implement necessary changes required to realise the full value of operational performance improvements.
  • Develop and maintain a database of operational performance improvements inclusive of status, value delivery and potential for scalability.
  • Accelerate rapid replication through peer interactions, formal knowledge sharing and participation in global Community of Practice forums.
  • Support the Principal Advisor - Control Room Operations to define appropriate standards and develop global skills and competency framework for control room operations.
  • Train, assess, mentor and coach site control room operators on a regular basis to improve performance in accordance with the global skills and competency framework.
  • Collaborate with control room operators and regularly assess key metrics to identify gaps and anomalies in knowledge and operational systems.
  • Work with Process Control Systems and Metallurgy to gather feedback from Control Room Operators on newly implemented systems and/or directives, supporting feedback with observable data and trends, and recommending/implementing actions.
  • Collaborate with your Peer Control Room Advisors internationally to problem solve, replicate best practice and generate new ideas to continuously improve processing capability.
