Large Language Models (LLMs) hold immense potential to change the way we work and develop products. They are reshaping the landscape of Machine Learning across various domains. However, they are not the final stage of AI advancements and there is a lot of untapped potential to use data other than language to solve modern problems of business software. It is SAP’s mission to overcome these challenges within the realm of Business AI.

As (Senior) AI scientist, you will:

• Develop innovative, scalable and high performing technical solutions by applying state-of-the-art technologies to SAP and customer problems.
• Continuously research, implement and document emerging trends in AI/ML and evaluate their potential in an SAP context
• Be a thought leader on how to best use SAPs knowledge and data together with latest AI advancements to gain a competitive advantage
• The usual data science tasks such as data extraction, data cleaning, data exploration, feature engineering, and model building, with a focus on developing robust pipelines.
• Drive AI workloads from idea to handover for production by defining and running experiments and integrating results into prototypes
• Advance the data science and machine learning practices of our team to build better models faster.

• Work closely with product management, designers, developers, and other data scientists to ensure project success

What you bring:

• PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or other relevant disciplines
• Deep understanding of the latest advancements in AI such as Transformer (and all its offsprings), Large Language Models, Large Multimodal Models, fine-tuning, RAG, Agents, etc.
• Proficiency in Python, and experience with Data Science frameworks such as PyTorch, transformers, pandas, spark, etc.
• Experience with cloud software development tools: Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub, AWS, BTP
• Proven history of exemplary leadership and strategic mindset, complemented by superior organizational abilities.
• Contributions to open-source projects or relevant private projects that demonstrate AI/ML skills are a plus
• Start-up experience or background is a plus.
