The Group:
The charter of ADI’s CSS team is to lead the market in a number of technology domains with highly differentiated sensing and signal processing solutions. Today these technology areas include Capacitive Sensing, Optical Image Stabilization, Optical sensing, Audio, and Capacitance or Laser Driving, which drive growth in our portable Consumer business. With a goal to deliver sustainable growth the CSS group will present the successful candidate with a great opportunity for continuous career development as part of a highly motivated and supportive team.
The Position:
Analog Devices is seeking an experienced Analog/mixed-signal Design Engineer with Audio or power conversion experience to work on the development of products for consumer audio applications. The successful candidate will join a diverse team that is supportive and eager to share its knowledge. It is the ideal place to enhance both technical expertise and interpersonal skills, whilst collaborating with our worldwide design teams.
As a member of the CSS team, you will be designing the next generation of high-performance audio solutions, which will define the way devices are operated, and the way music is enjoyed. These integrated circuits enable high-volume, high-visibility devices from market leaders who require premium audio to differentiate their products to the end consumer. The ubiquity of connected devices as well as the form factor reduction in audio peripherals is pushing the boundaries of existing solutions, thus calling for novel approaches.
The successful candidate will join a company with a rich history of producing breakthrough innovative architectures for delta-sigma DAC’s and ADC’s, Class-D amplifiers, and low latency Audio DSPs, to name a few.

Responsibilities

  • Working within an analog/mixed-signal design team based in our Edinburgh site.
  • Working with the sub-system lead on the detailed definition of high performance mixed signal devices.
  • IC block design, transistor-level circuit design and simulation.
  • Conducting technical presentations to ADI’s internal engineering team and Tier 1 customers
  • Using recommended design and verification techniques, tools & flows to produce efficient designs which meet all specified functional, power and timing objectives.
  • Successful integration of blocks into larger mixed-signal systems.
  • Supporting other job functions like layout, lab evaluation and test to ensure successful delivery meeting all requirements

Requirements

  • Electronic Engineering degree with 5+ years’ experience as analog circuit designer.
  • Candidates should have a good knowledge of analog and mixed signal electronics, tools and flows.
  • Design experience with circuits such as switching power supply circuits such as buck / boost converters and audio amplifiers, DACs, ADCs, amplifiers, bandgaps, bias circuits, LDOs, etc., is an advantage.
  • Strong inter-personal, teamwork and communication skills are required.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to take a full cell or sub-system ownership role and contribute to the development of new products from architecture selection to implementation and debug.
  • Some limited travel should be expected.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in Class-D designs for audio applications
  • Understanding of digital audio concepts such as DSP, Digital Filtering, Interpolation/Decimation and Delta-Sigma Conversion
