Description:

TCorp provides best-in-class investment management, financial management, solutions and advice to the New South Wales (NSW) public sector. With A$110 billion of assets under management, TCorp is a top 10 Australian investment manager and is the central borrowing authority of the state of NSW, with a balance sheet of A$173 billion. It is rated Aaa (Stable) by Moody’s, AAA (Stable) by Fitch, and AA+ (Stable) by S&P.
The Investments division constructs and manages client-centric investment portfolios for the NSW Government family. Through careful engagement with our clients, understanding their needs and bringing together our investment beliefs and comparative advantages, we deliver appropriately designed solutions. This results in the best possible risk adjusted performance for our clients.
The Client Advice & Portfolio Management (CAPM) team is engaged in all four components of TCorp’s investment model including client engagement; portfolio strategy; TCorp’s competition for capital; and reporting to stakeholders.

Reporting to a Senior Portfolio Manager, the Senior Analyst is responsible for:

  • Shared cultural leadership of TCorp’s competition for capital: joint leadership to facilitate a deep and ongoing competition for capital that is the core of TCorp’s Total Portfolio Approach.
  • Portfolio Construction (Reference Portfolio): design reference portfolios and ranges aligned to each client’s risk appetite. The reference portfolio is made up of exposure to primary risk factors (Equity, Term, Credit and Foreign Exchange).
  • Portfolio Construction (Target Portfolio): construct a diversified portfolio to achieve better risk-adjusted outcomes and portfolio quality than the Reference Portfolio.
  • Portfolio Construction (Competition for Capital): utilising the Investment Model tools and frameworks, work with the Investment Research & Strategy (IR&S) and Listed & Unlisted Asset Management teams to evaluate and prioritise existing and new investment opportunities.
  • Portfolio Management: manage the portfolio through time with input from the IR&S and Listed & Unlisted Investment teams to evolve the portfolio aligned to client needs.
  • Support Client Advisory Function: support the Client Advice function within the team. While functionally reporting to Client Portfolio Managers the expectation is that this role continues to play a vital role in client advice, reporting and engagement.

Key capabilities required for success include experience with quantitative analysis, financial modelling, and data analysis to assess Total Portfolio exposures and risks; understanding and application of ALM (Asset/Liability Management) and LDI (Liability Driven Investments) portfolio considerations to specific client objectives; a strong understanding of investment and other risks and how they impact portfolios plus the ability to design and implement strategies to manage these risks; experience in constructing multi-asset portfolios through a risk-based approach and development of robust asset allocation models incorporating scenario and stochastic analysis; and experience in managing investment and compliance reporting for clients - the role is responsible for the production and co-ordination of all client reports.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years relevant industry experience and relevant tertiary qualifications in a technical discipline (e.g. mathematics, finance, engineering, actuarial studies) plus CFA (in progress as a minimum). Additional relevant post-graduate qualifications and industry accreditations are also desirable. You will have demonstrated experience in asset allocation, portfolio construction and risk management for multi-asset portfolios, and experience in evaluating investment opportunities, risk and implementing portfolios. Finally, awareness of the investment environment, implementation pathways and objectives, and highly advanced problem-solving skills with an outcome and solution focus mentality are essential. You will also need to be a highly skilled presenter with advanced excel and PowerPoint skills and the ability to think on your feet when engaging with highly technical clients.
At TCorp we actively collaborate with our stakeholders to achieve the best outcomes for our clients and the state of NSW. We aim to build an inclusive culture so we can benefit from each employee’s unique perspective and contribution. We also understand the importance of flexible working and we support our people to balance their commitments and thrive both professionally and personally.
Applications will close on 28 July 2024.
