OUR TEAM

Our Sudbury Operations have been in existence for more than 100 years. With five mines, a mill, a smelter, a refinery and nearly 4,000 employees it is also one of the largest integrated mining complexes in the world. The Port Colborne Refinery was also commissioned 100 years ago on the shore of Lake Erie. Raw materials and finished products from Vale’s Sudbury and Newfoundland and Labrador operations are transported to Port Colborne for processing.
The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Senior Analyst, Project Standards to join our Early-Stage Projects team in Toronto/Sudbury. This is a permanent position.
The incumbent will have the responsibility to ensure mineral project standards and guidelines are in place with respect to project controls, procedures, systems, and documentation in projects managed by the Early-Stage Projects Department including FEL1 mineral project studies as well as Project Geology across all project phases. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mining or geology and at least 5 years of experience working on mining or geology project implementations.

Additionally, in this position you will be:

  • Responsible for leading the standardization of mineral projects and deliverables across the Early-Stage Projects Department.
  • Responsible for ensuring early-stage project teams across Canada, Brazil and Indonesia are following the standards.
  • Reviewing existing guidelines and procedures in place for mineral projects and creating or updating them as required.
  • Responsible for tracking project risks and recommendations indicating key stakeholders and accountabilities.
  • Coordinating with project teams the adoption and implementation of new methodologies and technologies into the mineral project’s workflows.
  • Reporting on projects compliance with standards and documentation.
  • Facilitating the integration of systems and databases used in FEL 1 with those used in FEL2, FEL3 and Execution.
  • Following up on team performance and providing insights following Agile principles.

About You

Education:

  • An Undergraduate Degree is required
  • PMP or CAPM is an asset.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in similar role.

Skills:

  • Strong experience working on mining/geology projects.
  • In depth knowledge of Project Management and Agile Methodology.
  • In depth understanding of mining & geological processes including mineral resources/reserves disclosure.
  • Proficient use of mining and geology software packages, MS Power Point, Excel, Power BI.
  • Ability to develop and manage relationships with a diverse range of professionals in a mining & construction atmosphere.
  • Structured and organized in handling multiple data sources: simplifying information in a consistent manner for ease of understanding by others.
  • Strong communication skills and development of concise documents and presentation materials.
