POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Research Analyst in our Manila office collaborates with colleagues across the global Research & Market Intelligence Team to provide substantive research and insight for client work and business planning and development efforts, demonstrating specialized knowledge and research expertise to support the firm’s global practices and industries. The Senior Research Analyst conducts, manages, and supports the production of accurate market, client, industry, and competitive intelligence research and analysis in support of the firm’s matters, pitches, business development, and the firm’s strategic initiatives.
Duties and Accountabilities1
- Work with requesters to define research requirements and conduct an initial review of complex research requests
- Lead the delivery of value-added research, analysis, and high-quality insights to support the firm’s country and global teams in the following areas:
- Client: Create company profiles, biographies, and newsletters; analyze client trends and developments
- Sector & market: Conduct detailed market, industry, and country research that includes market size, trends, drivers, inhibitors, and investment flow analyses. Perform market opportunity assessments to support the firm’s business development initiatives and client targeting
- Firm and competitor: Perform competitor benchmarking/intelligence across industries, practice areas, and geographies
- Review, analyze, and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data. Critically evaluate data for accuracy, relevance, and completeness to meet requesters’ needs
- Package and present research findings in a structured manner, with an ability to narrative and generate insights from data clearly and concisely
- Act as the shift lead during specified work hours and take ownership of workflow management, including coordination with requesters and Senior Researchers
- Perform quality checks on personal output and the team’s output
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience working in a research/analytical function within a professional services firm, a large corporation, or a law firm is preferred
- Oral and written proficiency in English
- Strong analytical and research skills
- A natural critical thinker with the ability to analyze problems logically and methodically, capable of synthesizing large amounts of information into actionable intelligence, and adept at seeing the “big picture” behind data
- Experience in data analytics, particularly in manipulating and interpreting data within an Excel environment, and developing insights based on this data
- Experience in producing outputs in PowerPoint and Word document formats
- Some knowledge of/experience working with key corporate databases such as Capital IQ, Bloomberg, Mergermarket, Refinitiv, PitchBook, or equivalent is preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work with geographically dispersed teams
- Ability to lead research projects independently from start to finish with minimal supervision
- Evidence of a strong client service focus and the ability to build and develop relationships with the team’s clients
- Strong time management skills with the ability to stay calm under pressure when juggling multiple tasks and to meet all stated deadlines
- Willingness to work during Asia-Pacific, EMEA, or US business hours, including on local holidays
