KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Accounting/Economics or a relevant subject degree is preferred.
  • Experience of private equity fund of fund valuations including knowledge of the IPEV guidelines.
  • Experience of understanding and interpreting private equity fund financial statements.
  • An understanding of bottom-up company valuation and valuation techniques.
  • An understanding and experience of the valuation of funds and the end-to-end process specifically within a Private Equity Operations Environment.
  • Understanding of private equity, financial accounting and business administration is highly desired.
  • High level of professionalism, attention to detail and judgement.
  • Experience of working in a busy team, working to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage own workload.
  • An understanding and experience of company financial data and valuation is desirable.
  • Experience of data analysis would be an advantage.
  • Understanding of how underlying company valuations translate to fund valuations.

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The position has arisen to provide support for the valuations team during a period of significant program of transformation across the operating platform. Because of the increased demand on the existing team to support the change program, additional support is required on a temporary basis to provide backfill for the current service.
The Valuations Team is responsible for producing the valuations of funds held in Pantheon’s portfolios or those in portfolios which are required to be monitored for processes such as investment due diligence.
The candidate will predominantly be involved in updating the valuations into the core operating system, including extraction of key data from underlying investment financial statements.
Valuations are principally carried out on a quarterly basis however there are also monthly and daily valuation tasks that need to be reviewed and checked. The candidate will also assist in the review and creation of working papers for the various Pantheon Valuation Committees
Because the role is a temporary one, a candidate who is a self-starter, and motivated to learn quickly and add value as soon as possible is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fund Valuations

  • Both input and approve the quarterly valuations ensuring the correctness of the data.
  • Assist the Team managers in the day-to-day workflow management of the Team.
  • Assist with the production of valuation papers for the various Pantheon Valuation Committees.
  • Assist in the end-to-end valuation process working with the various teams across Operations.
  • Assist with any ad-hoc queries and analysis around any issues or discrepancies identified within the fund valuations.

Portfolio Monitoring

  • Capture core valuations data for Pantheon’s fund of funds and any other data as required by business need.
  • Meet deadlines for inputting the data into Pantheon’s valuation system.
  • Identify potential areas which would benefit from enhancements or improvement in the process.
  • Apply robust checks to ensure the highest levels of data integrity.

Other:

  • Monitoring the queries, internal or external directed to the team.
  • Provide support to the Team Manager by representing the Team on Operations wide projects.
  • Provide technical support to the Team Analysts on core team tasks, processes and systems.
  • Assist the Portfolio Data Team in the maintenance of underlying company data.
