The Team: Data Technology is a passionate group of data scientists, engineers, and experts who use machine learning and data to enhance the digital product, marketing, and advertising experience across our many brands. We build innovative tools for our newsrooms and ensure the ethical and effective use of data.
Our award-winning initiatives include James, which powers content discovery for Times and Sunday Times subscribers (Best Use of Analytics at the Loyalty Awards, Best Commercial Use of Data, and second place globally at INMA), and INCA, our suite of tools to power workflows and aid decision-making in our newsrooms (Best Technical Innovation at the Drum’s Online Media Awards).
Our team works with a modern cloud stack, including GCP and AWS, multiple Python, deep learning, and cloud-based tools and frameworks for machine learning, specialising in natural language processing. We also use React, GraphQL, Node, and D3 for developing APIs, flexible front-end product components, and data visualisation.
Your Role: We are seeking a Senior Analytics Implementation Engineer to design and implement digital analytics solutions across all products supplied by News Group Newspapers media, including thetimes.co.uk, thesun.co.uk, dreamteamfc.com, sunsavers.co.uk, and their associated mobile applications.
These properties are built on a diverse set of technologies, including traditional HTML websites, single-page HTML applications, native mobile applications, and off-platform technologies such as Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP).
Reporting to the Analytics Implementation Team Manager and working alongside other Analytics Implementation specialists, this role presents a diverse set of challenges to ensure we effectively deliver quality information to the range of Data Technology products.

• Create and manage the web analytics Solution Design Reference for all our digital products, implementing required configurations within tag management systems.
• Assist in onboarding, oversee the work, and provide expert-level guidance to our analytics implementation engineers to ensure quality and performance.
• Produce technical specifications for development teams to ensure a data layer is in place on websites and provide expert-level advice on implementation approaches.
• Test solutions once deployed to identify gaps and issues, and a) feed these back to development teams b) ensure the initial requirements are met.
