Description:

From K – 12, technology is an integral part of learning. At Punahou School, the Information Technology (IT) department strives to create an environment where access to and support for digital information, tools, devices, and rich learning opportunities are fully integrated throughout the K – grade 12 environment. The Senior Applications Administrator will be responsible for managing enterprise technical solutions that support various school departments, including commercial off the shelf solutions, custom applications, systems integration / automation tools, and analytics/reporting initiatives. This position will support commercial off the shelf solutions including the evaluation and selection efforts, application configuration, legacy data conversion, successful completion of testing cycles, documentation and maintenance of applications, interfaces, and reporting. In addition, the role will collaborate with the rest of the Application Development and Network Operations teams on the design, build, test and implementation of custom applications. Additional areas of support include integration of new applications into the school’s ecosystem, stand-alone data conversion projects, support of data extraction, transformation and load (ETL) processes, and end user training of software / reporting tools, where necessary. This position works with a team of System Administrators and Data Analysts to support a broad array of departments across the Punahou community. Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with business units to understand/document business requirements. Configure and develop technical solutions to meet requirements.
  • Provide excellent customer service to business units in a prompt, courteous manner.
  • Ensure strong attention to detail with system configuration, software design/build and testing tasks.
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and software release notes to see if new technologies support existing / historical business requirements.
  • Perform installation, monitoring, testing, configuration, migration, maintenance and troubleshooting of assigned technologies.
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance on software application related issues.
  • Audit, monitor, and optimize systems in order to achieve and maintain maximum performance.
  • Develop and document programs, scripts, and standard operating procedures pertaining to systems administration.
  • Develop and provide recommendations to aid in system software planning and budgeting.
  • Implement configuration changes with approval and in adherence to change control procedures.
  • Collect and present data for reporting and planning.
  • Drive and implement process and automation improvements.
  • Develop processes and procedures related to systems/application administration.
  • Participate and assist subject matter experts in data governance discussions, on an as needed basis.
  • Perform on-call activities as needed for the environment and technologies.
  • Occasional off hour and weekend duties are required such as special events coverage and for service impacting maintenance.
  • Perform scheduled application security audits/ remediation activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems or equivalent combination of training and/or work experience.
  • Five (5) years experience administering commercial off-the-shelf software applications, including data conversion, system configuration, system documentation, access control setup/configuration, systems integration and reporting.
  • Five (5) years experience working directly with businesses/clients on utilizing technology to streamline operations, automate processes and deliver new functionality, where applicable.
  • Three (3) years experience working with a variety of software integration tools, SFTP, APIs, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive excellent customer service in a technical environment.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and accuracy.
  • Experience supporting a diverse group of end users with varying degrees of technical proficiency.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in handling confidential materials, demonstrating sound judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to provide clear and actionable instruction to colleagues, offering assistance, training, or supervision as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience with Student Information Systems and the associated interdependencies with other educational systems.
  • Five (5) years experience working in information technology in an independent/public school environment.
  • Experience working with business intelligence platforms
