SENIOR APPLICATION ENGINEER: ROBOTICS AND INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION (#20250124)

Mechatronic Design Solutions (MechDS) is an Ottawa, ON based company the offers turnkey development of complex automated equipment and robotic manufacturing lines. We are a small team of engineers, technicians, and mechanical designers determined to create top-quality automated manufacturing lines with a significant impact on our clients’ businesses. Our services include process automation, equipment design, control and electrical engineering, production trials, robotic integration, and site implementation.

We are hiring an Applications Engineer, (potential for fully remote)to lead the pre-sales development of automated manufacturing lines. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:

• An organized mindset, to work concurrently on several projects at various stages of completion
• The ability to work independently
• A broad skill set related to the development of automated industrial robotic manufacturing lines.

Do you like new challenges and varied work in a supportive environment? Ongoing projects include:

• Robotic handling systems for mineral analysis.
• Automated machine vision inspection systems.
• Integration of AI-based equipment effectiveness monitoring data collection terminals.
• Novel and automated agriculture for vertical farms.
• Automated industrial food manufacturing, including omelets, crepes, and tortillas.
• Robotic machine tending.

Salary Range $80,000-$105,000 per year.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

• Fanuc Roboguide
• Solidworks
• Microsoft Visio
• Microsoft Office
• Previous work in Applications Engineering: preparing quotes for complex automated equipment, developing machine layouts, selecting and sizing capital equipment, and estimating project labour.
• System level understanding of industrial PLC control architecture, actuators, and robotics.
• Demonstrated experience with machine development: requirement definition, conceptual design, 3D modeling/drafting, commissioning, and starting up.
• Experience integrating a wide range of technologies into complex systems: mechanism, actuators, sensors, and structural components.
• Contacting suppliers for equipment pricing and selection
• Client facing experience.
• Mentoring Experience.
• Knowledge of CSA standards including (Bonus: hygienic equipment design).
