BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
- Authored and published Research papers and projects (Academia or Professional)
- University Studies and laboratory practice in one of the following areas: quantum sensing, optical clocks, atomic physics, quantum networking, and quantum communication
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- PhD in physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, or other field related to quantum sensing, quantum networking, quantum communication and/or quantum information science
- Active U.S. security clearance
TYPICAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years’ related work experience, Master+12 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Prior experience may be relevant in:
- Fundamental physics and engineering for these domains
- Components or subcomponents that may be included in systems for quantum sensing, quantum networking or quantum communication
- Applications and deployments of relevant test beds in the lab and/or outside of the la
Responsibilities:
- Develop and validate requirements for various complex communication, sensor, electronic warfare and other electromagnetic systems and components
- Develop architectures to integrate complex systems and components into higher level systems and platforms
- Perform trade studies, modeling, simulations and other forms of analysis to predict component, interconnects and system performance, and to optimize designs around established requirements
- Define and conducts critical experimental tests to validate the performance of designs with respect to application requirements
- Manage appropriate aspects of critical supplier and partner performance to ensure compliance to requirements
- Document research findings in internal technical reports, internal presentations, invention disclosures or peer reviewed articles and conference presentations as prioritized within specific projects
- Communicate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
- Maintain awareness about the latest results, trends and publications in the relevant scientific and technology areas
- Provide as needed support to products throughout their lifecycle from manufacturing to customer use
- Support project management by providing key inputs for work statements, budgets, schedules, and conducting appropriate reviews
- Generates major sections of proposals to support development of new business
- Works under minimal direction
Successful candidates will have a foundational understanding of both theory and laboratory practices relevant to at least one of the following domains:
- Quantum sensing
- Optical clocks
- Atomic physics
- Quantum networking
- Quantum communication (free space and / or fiber based)
Prior experience may be relevant in:

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret clearance Post-Start is required.
