Description:

ABA Architects Inc. is a fast-growing mid-sized Architectural Practise in the Kitchener – Waterloo- Cambridge - Guelph Region. The Firm is seeking an intelligent and personable individual to assume the responsibility of a Senior Architectural Draftsperson.
Position Description: Senior Architectural Draftsperson: Full- Time- Permanent
The ideal candidate is highly knowledgeable and skilled in producing Architectural Working Drawings, preferably having experience related to a wide variety of building types. The candidate must be proficient in REVIT to be considered. The responsibilities of the Senior Architectural Draftsperson will include but are not limited to:

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Engineering or College Diploma in Construction and Engineering Technology
  • 7-10 years relevant work experience is required for this position
  • Good knowledge of Ontario Building Code, standard construction practices
  • Computer skills in REVIT, AutoCAD 2010-2017, Microsoft Project, Word and Excel, Microsoft Outlook

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, develop and maintain Program requirements
  • Identify, develop and maintain all Project constraints i.e. Zoning, existing conditions, OBC restrictions
  • Prepare preliminary building layouts
  • Lead and Coordinate Project Teams independently or in support of more senior staff
  • Be involved at a high level to advise the design team on issues of constructability
  • OBC review
  • Coordination and overall integration of technical activities (ie. OBC analysis, drawings and specifications)
  • Material/product research and selection
  • Communication with Clients, consultants, Authorities Having Jurisdiction, Contractor
  • Tender Administration
  • Preparation of Architectural working drawings (either independently or as part of a larger team)
  • Attend site meetings, prepare site reviews and reports, take minutes
  • Shop drawing review and circulation
  • Progress claim review/Certificates for Payment preparation and circulation
  • Response, preparation, and coordination’s of Project Communications such as RFI’s, CCO’s, CO, Directives, and Clarifications Post Construction
  • Coordination and/or preparation of as-built documentation and project close-out
  • Establish goals, deliverables and timelines for Team Members
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with Clients, Contractors and Consultants
  • Supervise and direct junior and intermediate staff on the project
