SUMMARY

This person is a coach and mentor to technical staff and junior architects. They have exceptional people and communication skills and will be able to lead project documentation from design development through construction completion. They will have an expert understanding of building codes, building systems and components and construction processes. They will be comfortable and have experience interfacing with clients and consultants. They will be able to make independent decisions in the best interest of the project and be able to supervise others. They will have certificate or diploma in Architectural Technology with minimum 8 years of progressive experience working on a variety of project types and sizes. They will have a strong proficiency in REVIT platforms.
This person will be responsible to produce a high-quality product through the creation and modification of architectural documents, elevations, sections, details and schedules ensuring the incorporation of design intent. This person will be responsible to coordinate and review building products, complete building code reviews, and incorporate this information into technical documents. They will coordinate design and technical information with project managers, clients, public agencies, consultants and contractors. They will review drawing progress on a regular basis and ensure that documentation for all phases conforms to METAFOR quality assurance, quality control and best practice standards.
This person will inform the Project Architect of all project matters and keep their team members informed of project objectives, milestone dates and product deliverables. They will be responsible to achieve design and technical excellence and work within a collaborative framework.

POSITION OVERVIEW

  • Work with METAFOR’s integrated team to identify specific design objectives, complex features and possible solutions while balancing innovation, practicality, and sustainability.
  • Work with the design team to develop detailed design concepts and translate them into clear concise Design and Construction Documents.
  • Lead team members and actively participate in the preparation of drawing packages for various project deliverables, including but not limited to permit submissions and/or construction.
  • Responsible for coordinating and reviewing building products, completing building code research and incorporating this information into technical documents.
  • Coordinate design and technical information with project managers, clients, public agencies, consultants and contractors.
  • Inform and guide product selection, including building components and systems.

CHARACTERISTICS & SKILLS

  • 8+ years of architectural production experience.
  • Ability to lead, manage, assess, and mentor a diverse team.
  • Ability to identify the critical path for executing project deliverables
  • Proven technical leadership and an awareness of current trends within the industry.
  • Strong understanding of REVIT.
  • Supervising project document control tasks and maintaining quality control.
  • Detailed knowledge of Alberta and BC building codes.
  • Detailed knowledge of Land Use by-laws for Municipalities in Alberta and BC.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Construction and Architectural practices, including advanced knowledge of building materials, detailing, construction techniques, building systems selection, related engineering principles, and sustainability strategies.
  • Excellent time management and teamwork skills.
