Description:

Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU) offered the first Materials Engineering degree in Singapore under the division of Materials Engineering in 1991. With the increasing demand for materials engineers, the division was subsequently elevated to a full-fledged engineering school in 2000. The school of Materials Engineering (MSE) now stands as one of the world’s largest Materials Engineering departments.
This role is responsible for leading the Office of the Associate Chair (Faculty) in all faculty-related matters. This includes faculty recruitment, promotion and tenure, performance appraisal, re-appointments, and faculty nominations for prestigious national and international awards. This role goes beyond the traditional scope of faculty administration, as it actively contributes to institutional excellence through faculty recruitment and retention efforts to foster a diverse and world-class faculty community.
Additionally, this role is pivotal to supporting the Chair’s office in high-level administration and often confidential administrative matters.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee faculty development initiatives.
  • Assist the Associate Chair (Faculty) in tracking and monitoring the faculty’s performance.
  • Manage and oversee tenure-track and tenured faculty recruitment initiatives and activities.
  • Responsible for planning, initiating and outreach to identify potential candidates for the faculty’s position.
  • Manage and oversee non-tenure track structured faculty appointments and re-appointments.
  • Responsible for managing the end-to-end process of faculty appointment and re-appointment.
  • Manage and oversee the annual faculty performance appraisal exercise.
  • Coordinate and oversee the annual faculty performance appraisal process, ensuring timely completion and adherence to institutional policies and procedures.
  • Manage and lead the faculty promotion & tenure (P&T) exercise.
  • Coordinate and oversee the entire faculty promotion and tenure process, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and procedures.
  • Manage NAP & NRF Fellowship recruitment.
  • Responsible for managing the end-to-end process of NAP & NRF Fellowship recruitment.
  • Manage and oversee the nomination of faculty for local and international awards.
  • Assist the Associate Chair (Faculty) and School Chair in identifying and nominating suitable faculty candidates for prestigious national and international awards.
  • Manage the NTU-MSE LinkedIn Recruiter platform to source potential candidates for faculty and research staff position.
  • Secretariat to major school meetings or discussions

Requirements:

  • A recognized degree in Engineering / Science with minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in the administration in an Institute of Higher Learning.
  • Extensive experience working with various stakeholders.
  • Experience in career services with an Institute of Higher Learning.
  • Knowledge of Project Management.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis and systems thinking.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
