Job Description

The post of Senior Assistant Technical Officer (Stores) is split into two main roles; you will be required to undertake and be responsible for assessing stock ordering requirements and ensuring that pharmaceutical stock is stored correctly, by ensuring correct storage requirements and stock rotation, to include ambient, refrigerated, controlled drugs, unlicensed and hazardous items. Ensuring the Pharmacy department and the Trust has the stock required on-hand to treat patients is a vital part of this role.
The second part of the role is to pick, issue and provide final checks of pharmaceutical products against picking lists, products include controlled drugs and unlicensed medicines to ensure that PHU and external customers are receiving the appropriate supplies of medicines for patients’ use. Part of your role will be identifying stock/supply problems and resolving them with senior staff, communicating problems and progress to the appropriate person to minimise risk to patient care.
You will ensure the receipt and dispatch of aseptic products occurs in a timely fashion and be expected to be able to identify different types of medicines and use your initiative and experience to prioritise ordering critical medicines.
This is a busy and active role, and we are looking for someone who can pay close attention to detail and is able to work as part of a team.
Experience of working in a warehouse/store environment is essential.

Qualifications

Essential

  • 5 GCSEs (grades A-C/9-4)
  • Demonstrated ability to work to set procedures and follow written instructions
  • Stores / Warehouse experience

Desirable

  • Previous work experience in a pharmaceutical / healthcare background
  • Highstacker / pallet truck Knowledge

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Ability to use simple computer-based programmes and input data as required for stock control
  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately under pressure
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and organise routine daily tasks, including ability to achieve deadlines and set own priorities
  • Undertake operational work in the section – able to carry out lifting and moving boxes
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Demonstrate ability to clearly and accurately complete routine documentation

Desirable

  • Knowledge of GMP

At least 2 year’s previous work experience in an Stores environment
