• A human transition: a fundamental rethink of how societies, governments and markets can ensure the health and cognitive and social well-being of all those young people, including the most vulnerable
• A just climate transition: both to decarbonise and to manage the human and economic impacts of a global crisis they did not cause

LOCATION:While we welcome applications from people based anywhere in the Young World, our preference would be to recruit someone based in one of our offices: Johannesburg, Cape Town, Nairobi, Abidjan, Goa, or Amman.(You should have the legal right to work and live in the location).

PRACTICE AREA DESCRIPTION

Our Human Development Practice works for a world where everyone can develop to their full potential. We want to support large-scale, positive, sustainable change in key areas including early childhood development, education, youth, health, nutrition and social protection. We are committed to working with those who need it the most, particularly children, women and young people in Africa and the young world.
We help governments, our global partners, and non-state clients to improve the delivery of key human development services. To do so, we provide services in diagnostics; regulation, governance and oversight; strategy, planning and implementation; financing and budgeting; service delivery; and monitoring and evaluation.
The education team works with Ministries of Education and clients to strengthen education systems. Our vision is that every child is able to access quality education and unlock their potential, thus unlocking vast economic and social potential. We work on improving the strategy, planning, and implementation, improving the quality and coverage of services.

We are especially interested in supporting our clients to:

• Scale impactful foundational literacy and numeracy programmes
• Improve the quality of teacher professional development
• Develop sustainable education finance
• Ensure schools are inclusive
• Innovate with Ed Tech

ROLE DESCRIPTION

This role will ensure that our team uses the best evidence to guide key education stakeholders to effect positive change

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Qualitative Data Analysis and Synthesis: Define suitable qualitative methodologies to deliver in-depth education sector research and analysis. Collect, analyse, synthesize, and report high-quality qualitative data. Confident with the role of qualitative software and AI to streamline such approaches.
• Quantitative Data Analysis and Synthesis: Ability to present and interpret descriptive quantitative data.
• Education evaluation: ability to support the design of complex evaluation methodologies from both methods and education perspectives
• Evidence Translation: Translate evidence and research findings into accessible formats (policy briefs, infographics, presentations) suitable for various audiences.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in education to promote the utilisation of evidence findings and to support capacity building.
• Project Management: Manage teams to successfully achieve project goals on time
• New Business Development: Proactively seek work in education and write proposals for clients
• Presentation Skills: Demonstrate excellence in presenting, this could include presenting at conferences, and crafting conference materials.
• Project Documents: Prepare clear and structured project documents and proposals with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Work with our team: Support with the recruitment, line management and professional development of the team. Review the inputs of junior colleagues
  In some cases, you will travel to do this, usually with colleagues.

  For this role, the preferred candidate will possess the following essential skills and competencies

• Masters’ level degrees in Education, Development Studies, Sociology or similar

• At least 5 years’ relevant professional experience
• Proficiency in data analysis within the education sector
• Credibility to support the presentation of complex education findings to governments, as well as high level donors and clients
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams in changing environments
• Ability to solve problems through clear thinking, and strong quantitative analytical skills, including attention to detail
• Excellent consulting experience
• Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills in English
• Strong interpersonal skills
