Senior Associate, Government Affairs, Ireland

WHO WE ARE :
The Global Government Affairs team acts as X’s ambassadors to government, policymakers, regulators, and civil society groups on key public policy issues. We focus on addressing issues such as protecting free expression, data privacy, online safety, competitive markets and emerging regulation to advance the interests of X and our users.
WHO YOU ARE :
- We’re looking for self-starter with experience in politics, public policy, stakeholder engagement. You may also have experience in technology.
- You will have a good understanding of the regulatory and political environment in Ireland and the EU .
- You are a strong team player.
- You are comfortable engaging with governments and regulators at all levels in both public and private settings and can tap into a strong network with policy makers and civil society groups in the region.
- You take a strategic approach to problem solving and understand the value and purpose of engaging with a broad stakeholder community and their relation to public policy strategies.

Responsibilities:
This will be an opportunity to actively assist in the development and advocacy of public policy solutions to pressing technology issues :
Specifically, you will -
- Support the development of legislative and regulatory strategies on high profile, high tech public policy issues, including contributing to content for internal and external messaging, and working toward the successful implementation of these strategies.
- Engage key government, political, and civil society representatives to help them understand X and advance policies beneficial to X and our users.
- Identify opportunities for X to defend freedom of expression.
- Monitor public policy issues of importance to X, and help determine when proactive engagement is wise and warranted.
- Represent X at industry gatherings and meetings.
- Develop a strong network of contacts engaged in technology policy issues.
- Provide front-line support on issues requiring engagement, solving problems, and escalating to internal colleagues as needed.
- Ensure the high quality preparation of presentation materials to support engagement with policymakers, regulators, and lawmakers.
- Work closely with colleagues across other functions, especially legal, legal compliance and safety, to ensure our strategies are aligned with wider business interests.
