Description:

THE VACANCY

We are seeking a Senior Associate/Partner to join our fast growing and specialised Compensation Protection Unit (CPU) which represents clients who have suffered life changing injuries. You would be joining a dynamic team committed to making a difference to these vulnerable clients and expected to develop clients and work within the department; with an aim to build and grow the business whilst maintaining a consistent level of excellent client service.
As a Senior Associate/ Partner you will be expected to consistently deliver a high standard of legal advice to clients in a commercially astute manner, always delivering outstanding client service. You will actively support the Head of Department in achieving the business plan, as well as supervising juniors members in the team.

Duties will include:

  • Effective and efficient delivery of work on own files, ensuring matters are profitable, whilst taking responsibility for the supervision of more junior fee earners with regards to file management and time recording
  • Act as the senior lawyer on the most challenging matters. A recognised expert in your discipline/sector
  • Expand your area of business by broadening your area of expertise into new client sectors/markets or achieving greater market share
  • Lead on the generation of thought leadership based on changes in the law, market trends or other relevant material to attract new opportunities
  • Take responsibility for developing department know-how and marketing materials and supporting others
  • Provide leadership and management for the team, setting SMART objectives and providing to support to help the team achieve these.
  • Actively manage performance within your team
  • Develop yourself and others in line with the Leadership behaviours and embody our values both internally and externally. Support and engage in firm-wide events
  • Be responsible for managing and supervising work in the team to achieve all financial and non-financial KPIs. Use management information to understand the performance of self and team
  • Ensure profitability on matters for self and team through understanding the contractual basis on which legal services are provided, including how to calculate and manage costs and bill clients.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive 7+PQE
  • Previous experience of working with/alongside Professional Deputy/Attorneys/trustees.
  • Experience of making applications to the Court of Protection
  • Exceptional client management skills with a focus on delivery of excellent client service
  • Ability to coach and mentor junior lawyers
