SENIOR AUTOMATION ENGINEER
We are seeking an experienced Senior Automation Engineer to join the SimoTech HQ Engineering Team based in Cork. In this role, you will be a key player in a team of skilled Automation Engineers who have extensive experience in delivering large-scale automation projects, from inception through to commissioning and validation.
The ideal candidate will have previous site commissioning experience on life science manufacturing batch automation projects, along with hands-on expertise in working with Siemens or Allen-Bradley PLCs, and related hardware and applications. Your primary responsibility will be to support the full lifecycle delivery of large-scale automation projects, whether they are greenfield or brownfield initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, sciences or equivalent.
- 8+ years’ experience implementing and supporting automation systems for manufacturing organizations in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical or life sciences industries.
- 3+ years’ experience in leading teams and suppliers in automation project delivery.
- Demonstrate strong technical, project and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and with limited supervision across various technologies and project lifecycles.
- Extensive expertise in one or more of the following platforms: Rockwell, Siemens S7 and/or Emerson DeltaV platforms.
- Skilled in defining solutions and providing proactive support to resolve issues efficiently.
- Knowledge of GMP, GAMP, Safety and Environmental Regulatory requirements.
- Possess excellent communication skills with a strong focus on collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
Responsibilities:
- Oversight of day-to-day workload and task allocation for members of the in-house SimoTech engineering team, whilst also contributing from a technical or project engineering perspective to specific key projects.
- Front-End Engineering project responsibilities including develop Front End Studies and Basis-of- Design documentation, Generation of Scope of Work, User Requirements Spec, System Architectures, Functional Specs and Review Vendor Proposals and participate in Technical Bid Analysis.
- Technical Consultancy project responsibilities such as Automation Strategy development, obsolescence reports & lifecycle plans, data security & data integrity assessments and system architecture design.
- Client-Side Project Management responsibilities would include management of sub-contractors on client’s behalf from the perspective of cost, quality & schedule. Management of control system development, installation, commissioning & qualification in regulated environments. Interface with clients and address the resolution of client concerns.
- Assist project managers with responsibilities such as development/management of budgets, scope, schedule & quality, financial & earned value reporting and customer relationship management.
- Mentorship of in-house automation engineers and project engineers as well as providing leadership, guidance and advice in own field of expertise.
- Build key relationships with new and existing clients and occasional travel to client sites for project scoping, implementation & governance meetings.
