Senior Automation Software Engineer

Salary up to £45,000 depending on experience
Renishaw is looking for a Senior Automation Software Engineer to join its Co-ordinate Measuring and Gauging Division (CGPD). You will join a multidisciplined Process Software Team responsible for developing and analysing the automated test systems which ensure our products will function at the highest standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, prototype, analyse and implement new processes and create precision automated assembly and test systems.
  • Collaborate on the development of EMC tests, early product development tests as well as help improve current products rigs and assist manufacturing when extra support is needed in production.
  • Programming test systems in C#, LabVIEW, VBA and SQL (We can also offer training in the design of full rigs including the electronic and mechanical aspects).
  • Participation in technical peer reviews and write clear and concise documentation.
  • Validate new processes and show that each rig meets the requirements in the product test specification.

Key requirements

  • The successful candidate will ideally be educated to degree level (or equivalent) in an engineering or scientific related discipline with a mathematical aptitude, for the analysis of test data and process statistics.
  • Experience with programming (e.g. LabVIEW, C#, VBA, VHDL, etc.) would be expected, but training in some of these aspects can be provided.
  • An appreciation of electronics and/or mechanical engineering.

Desirable requirements

  • Experience in integrating industrial sensors and technology into test systems.
  • Experience of using LabVIEW in a production process environment.
  • Understanding mechanical tooling and fixture design.
  • Understanding of statistics in relation to production processes (e.g. CpK, Gauge R&R, MSA and SPC charts).
  • Familiarity with SQL database systems.
  • Understanding of Azure DevOps or similar for project planning and workflow.
