Senior Backend Developer

To strengthen our product development team within the Vizrt, we are seeking a highly motivated, skilled and team-oriented backend developer to join our Viz One development team with base in Stockholm. A location in Bergen, Norway may also be considered. Viz One is a centralized and scalable platform to ingest, manage, edit, and deliver content effortlessly and cost-effectively, used by large broadcast organizations all over the world.
As a member of the team developing the core platform, you will be working on enabling the users to search effectively, enrich content with different types of metadata, transfer and transcode media to make sure it is always available in the right place and the right format, and ensure stable interfaces to a large number of internal and third-party integrations.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Broadcast Engineering or a related technical discipline OR Several years of experience as a Software Engineer.
• You are a strong communicator with fluency in English.
• You have high analytical skills, understanding complex setups and interactions.
• You enjoy collaborating in a team, but also able to work fully independently.
• You have a willingness to take initiative and have a solutions-oriented mindset.
• You are interested in learning new technologies, methodologies and tools.
• You are well organized; able to estimate scope and time for assigned tasks, diligent about recording development progress and willing to seek out clarification where there is ambiguity in tasks or objectives.

ADDITIONAL DESIRED SKILLS/BONUS POINTS:

• Experience with at least one high level programming language (e.g. Python, Perl) and/or one lower level programming language (e.g. C++, Go).
• Experience with relational databases is a plus.
• Experience implementing RESTful API services is a plus.
• Experience with cloud services, containers, and/or Kubernetes is a plus.
• Knowledge of audio and video coding is a plus.
• Experience of working in an agile/scrum environment.

• Work together with the team to deliver container-based deployment and workflows for Viz One.
• Collaborate with stake holders on Proof of Concepts (PoCs) to explore new ideas and technologies.
• Contribute to the development of new features and enhancements in existing products and components.
• Work with the team to gradually modernize and future proof our product codebases.
• Support professional services to deliver projects to our customers to meet established scope and deadlines.
• Develop and maintain test automation to validate software functionality.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and work with stakeholders to optimize software performance.
• Maintain and improve the quality of existing code.
