Job Description
MLSE Digital Labs is seeking a highly motivated Senior Backend Engineer to join the Digital Labs team. This individual will be primarily working on the development and management of applications, and will be reporting to the Engineering Manager for Applications.

Position Type: Contractor

  • Develop and deploy application solutions using modern DevOps practices and security standards.
  • Build performant and highly available multi-tenant applications that scale easily to millions of users.
  • Establish standards and maintain a department-wide body of knowledge on engineering.
  • Participates in planning, definition, and high-level design of the solution and exploration of solution alternatives.
  • Mentor and lead junior-level engineers throughout the application delivery process.
  • Partners with other teams like infrastructure and application engineering to define metadata layers, technical strategy, and efficient integration within the existing landscape.
  • Provides high-level sizing estimates of new development work.
  • Design and implement test automation solutions for application testing.

  • Hardworking advocate of security standard methodologies and micro-service architecture.
  • Eager to learn and build both technical and analytical skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and balance multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Astute in new and emerging technologies and technical approaches.
  • Knowledge of software engineering practices for SDLC, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies.
  • Proven ability to take a project from scoping requirements through to the actual launch of project.
  • Ability to prioritize, track, and handle work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience using source control technology such as GitHub.
  • Competent understanding of RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with relational SQL databases, such as PostgreSQL, and associated migration systems, such as Flyway.
  • Strong Software Engineering experience with proficiency in JavaScript/Typescript.
  • Strong experience with NodeJS API frameworks, such as ExpressJS.
  • Proficiency in crafting and implementing systems in AWS.
  • CI/CD orchestration tools such as GitHub Actions.
  • Nice to have experience with Kubernetes and related tools, such as Helm.
