Description:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three-year Business degree (HR Major) from an institute of recognized standing and a minimum of six years of relevant
experience, including a two years in a leadership capacity and two years in benefit administration.
OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Completion of a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) would be considered an asset.
- Proven leadership skills and be recognized as someone who exhibits a positive attitude in the workplace.
Responsibilities:
- Development of strategy and framework for benefit programs, priorities, and processes with input from Business HR to ensure
that benefits programs are business relevant.
- Assist with designing retirement program and processes, monitoring for efficiency and effectiveness, and making updates as
needed.
- Engage with HR Departments to identify key business imperatives that influence benefit strategy and governance and ensure
benefit programs incorporate the needs of the business and are aligned to enterprise strategy.
- Identify key business opportunities and strategic initiatives and collaborate with other HR Departments on the execution and
monitoring.
- Act as an escalation point to the Retirement & Benefits Advisors, to ensure effective program management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with benefit providers and assist in the ongoing review and management of the
Enterprises’ benefit contracts including the tendering and selection process when required.
- Monitor benefits vendor adherence to service level agreements, and establish key performance metrics to assess programs’
success and alignment with the total rewards approach.
- Provide cost information and recommendations regarding Group Insurance and other benefits as they relate to collective
bargaining proposals and/or other proposed amendments to collective agreements.
- Refer employees to Employee Experience Services or the appropriate service channel to resolve benefits inquiries/transaction
requests and provide self-service coaching, as appropriate.
- Assist in the development and execution of the departmental business plan.
- Promote and contribute to the continuous improvement of HR systems and practices.
- Regularly liaise with external consultants and actuaries on a variety of complex pension and benefit issues.
